The vine clones

Antonio Longobardi, a dedicated nurseryman with a keen eye for innovation, foresaw the need for Vitis Vinifera material with increasingly improved genetic and health characteristics. In 1999, he was a founding member of the Italian Vineyard Nursery Consortium (AMPELOS). The clones, the fruit of the first years of intense selection, are the result of the commitment of a local nursery rooted in tradition. These are the best experts on their own grape varieties and, therefore, capable of identifying the best that nature and human activity have produced over time, selecting clones expressive of the different biotypes from the population.
